USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. (DDG 121) arrive in Guam

APRA HARBOR, Guam – Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), flagship of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 3, Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. (DDG 121), and the embarked staffs of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9 and Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 21, arrived in Guam for a brief logistics stop, Sept. 19, 2026.

Abraham Lincoln and Frank E. Petersen Jr. previously stopped in Guam in December 2025. Both ships returned to the U.S. Pacific Command area of responsibility (AOR), after nearly seven months operating in the U.S. Central Command AOR. They conducted port visits in Laem Chabang and Si Racha, Thailand, respectively, Sept. 2-6.

The stop on Naval Base Guam marks CSG-3 personnel’s first return to American soil in nine months, during which personnel will be afforded on-base liberty.

Guam, part of the U.S. homeland, is a critical nexus for command and control, logistics, and power projection in the Indo-Pacific. Guam’s strategic value comes in its capability to support enhanced logistics for numerous forward-deployed U.S. military units including aircraft carriers and their strike group combatants.

The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is conducting routine operations in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. The strike group, alongside our allies and partners, is committed to an Indo-Pacific that is free and open, connected, prosperous, secure, and resilient for all nations.
